How This Calculator Works

This calculator applies Archimedes’ Principle which states that the buoyant force on a submerged object is equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.

The calculations are based on the following formulas:

  • Buoyant Force (Fb): Fb = ρfluid × Vdisplaced × g
  • Object Weight (Fg): Fg = ρobject × Vobject × g
  • Net Force: Fnet = Fb – Fg
  • Hydrostatic Pressure: P = ρfluid × g × h

Where:

  • ρ = density (kg/m³)
  • V = volume (m³)
  • g = acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s²)
  • h = depth below fluid surface (m)
