How This Calculator Works
This calculator applies Archimedes’ Principle which states that the buoyant force on a submerged object is equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.
The calculations are based on the following formulas:
- Buoyant Force (Fb): Fb = ρfluid × Vdisplaced × g
- Object Weight (Fg): Fg = ρobject × Vobject × g
- Net Force: Fnet = Fb – Fg
- Hydrostatic Pressure: P = ρfluid × g × h
Where:
- ρ = density (kg/m³)
- V = volume (m³)
- g = acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s²)
- h = depth below fluid surface (m)
